Google Business Profile
  1. Have you claimed and verified your Google Business Profile?

An unclaimed listing can be edited by anyone, including competitors.

  2. Is your primary category the most specific one that fits, such as "HVAC contractor" rather than "Contractor"?

The primary category is one of the strongest relevance signals Google uses for the map.

  3. Are your hours, services, service area, and description filled in and current?

Google favors complete listings, and wrong hours send customers to a locked door.

  4. Have you added real photos of your work, team, or location in the last few months?

Fresh, genuine photos show the business is active and help people choose you.

Reviews
  1. Do you ask every happy customer for a Google review, every time?

A steady stream of honest reviews is part of what Google calls prominence.

  2. Do you reply to reviews, including the bad ones?

Future customers read your replies more closely than the complaint.

Consistency
  1. Do your business name, address, and phone number match exactly on your website, Google, Yelp, Facebook, and Apple Maps?

Mismatched details make Google less sure which listing is the real you.

  2. Are you sure there are no duplicate or old Google listings for your business?

Duplicates split your reviews and confuse the map.

Your website
  1. Does your website have a page that names San Antonio and describes the work you do there?

Google checks that your site backs up what your listing claims.

  2. Is your phone number on every page, and is it tap-to-call on mobile?

The map sends people to your site; the site has to hand them a phone number.

  3. Does your site include LocalBusiness structured data with the same name, address, and phone?

It states your business facts in a format search engines read directly.

The reason why

How the Google map decides who gets the call

Google says local results depend on three things: relevance, distance, and prominence. Relevance is whether your listing and website match the search. Distance is how far you are from the searcher, which you cannot change. Prominence is how well known you are, which shows up as reviews, mentions, and links.

That leaves two levers you control. Make the listing complete and accurate, and make your website back up every claim the listing makes. Most businesses that vanish from the map fail at one of those, not both.

Questions about the Local SEO & Google Maps Checker

Plain answers about what the tool does, what it doesn't, and what to do next.

How do I check my local SEO in San Antonio for free?
Search your main service and city on Google Maps from a phone, ideally from where your customers live, and note who appears in the top three. Then open your Google Business Profile and compare it with theirs: categories, reviews, photos, and hours. This checker walks you through the rest of the comparison in about five minutes.
Why does my competitor show up on Google Maps and I don't?
Usually because Google finds their listing more relevant or more prominent for that search, or because they are closer to the person searching. A more specific primary category, steadier reviews, and a website page that names the city and service are the common differences. Distance you cannot change. The rest you can.
How long does it take to rank in the Google Maps 3-pack?
Profile fixes, like the right category and complete details, can show up within weeks. Reviews and local pages build over months. A crowded trade in central San Antonio takes longer than a smaller market like Bulverde or Seguin. Anyone who promises you a date is guessing, however confidently.
Does this local SEO checker look up my Google listing?
No. It is a self-assessment: you answer the questions and it sorts the answers. It does not connect to Google or collect data about your business. The results include a link that opens Google Maps with your business name and city, so you can see the real listing for yourself.
Should I make a separate page for every town I serve?
Only for towns where you actually work and have something useful to say. A page for Boerne should mention jobs there, the areas you cover, and reviews from local customers. Copy-paste pages with only the town name swapped tend to do nothing, and Google is good at spotting them.
