Our web design process
The web design process, in five steps you can see coming.
Most agencies run projects like a magic trick: you hand over a deposit and wait for the reveal. We would rather show our work. Here is every stage of a website project, what you get at the end of each one, and roughly when.
- Written scope before any code
- A preview site you can click from week three
- Old page addresses redirected at launch
- Monthly reports in plain English
Website design process
From first call to the phone ringing, one step at a time.
Each step ends with something you can hold, click, or read. If a step doesn’t produce it, we haven’t finished the step.
- Step 1 of 5Weeks 1–2
Discover: Find out what is actually costing you customers.
We study your current site, your competitors, how people in your area search, and the path a customer takes from first search to phone call. Then we write down exactly what the new site has to do: pages, features, integrations, and who writes the words.
You get: A written scope and site map you approve before anything is built.
- Step 2 of 5Weeks 3–6
Build: Design it, then build it where you can watch.
You approve page layouts before any code is written. Then we build a fast, custom site that serves pages quickly and gives Google clean, readable code. A private preview site updates as we work, so you never wait until the end to see progress.
You get: A private preview site you can click through on your own phone.
- Step 3 of 5Weeks 7–8
Launch: Go live without losing what you already earned.
Before launch we check speed on real phones, test accessibility for keyboard and screen-reader users, and confirm every form reaches a real inbox. Every old page address is redirected to its new home, so the Google rankings you built over the years come along.
You get: Launch checklist, redirect map, and speed and accessibility checks.
- Step 4 of 5Days 60–120
Grow: Send the right people to the new site.
With the site live, we go after the searches that come with wallets: local SEO, Google Business Profile, and, where they make sense, Google Ads and Local Services Ads. Tracking counts calls and form fills, not just visits.
You get: Search and ad campaigns, with lead tracking connected to each one.
- Step 5 of 5Ongoing, if you want it
Optimize: Keep what works. Fix what doesn't.
We test changes to forms and pages, check every day that the forms still deliver, and move ad money toward what produces paying customers. You get a monthly report written in English, with dollar signs in it.
You get: A monthly report that ties leads and sales to their source.
Your part of the process
System requirements for an on-time website launch.
Website projects rarely run late because of code. They run late waiting for a logo, a password, or a yes. Here is the short list of what we need from you.
Your logo and brand files
Or whatever you have. We can work with a business card and a good attitude.
Timely reviews
A few days to look at layouts and copy keeps the schedule honest. Weeks of silence move the launch date.
Access to accounts
Domain, hosting, Google Business Profile, and analytics logins, shared securely.
What you know about your customers
Nobody knows why people buy from you better than you do. We will ask a lot of questions.
Step one costs nothing
Start the discovery step today, free.
The first step of every project is a look at what is costing you customers. We do a short version of it for free: send three quick answers and a person replies within four business hours with what to fix first and what it should cost.
If you hire us, that plan becomes the start of the written scope. If you don’t, it is still yours.
